Name:
Vince Crimi.
What is your role at Kolbe?
Acting Director of Students at St Catherine's Campus.
What does a typical day at Kolbe look like for you?
Each day is different but is basically made up of taking classes, talking to students and staff about improving student performance and results as much as we can and attending meetings.
What do you love most about working at Kolbe Catholic College?
Kolbe is an extremely well managed school with approachable leadership and a skilled and friendly staff. I also appreciate that parents are very supportive of the school and it's programs.
What is your favourite food?
All food is my favourite!!! I do eat far too much pasta and must have some bread every day.
What is your favourite travel destination?
I have not done much travelling, but I do enjoy visiting different parts of Australia. My cousin has just moved to Cairns, so that is next on the list. On my bucket list are Sicily and Egypt.
What was your first job?
In the days before computers, I interviewed people in shopping centres for a market research company.
What is one of your hidden talents?
I play field hockey.
What song do you know all the lyrics to?
Children of the Revolution by T-Rex.
If you had a boat, what would you name it?
S.S. Electric Warrior.
Who inspires you?
People who go out of their way to help others. Especially, my mum.
How do you think people would describe you?
Loud, loyal, friendly.
How do you elevate your students?
In class, I try not to talk too much. Tasks are set and then I try to get around to every student in the class to check progress and assist on a one-to-one basis. I set high expectations for effort and use mistakes as a learning tool for students.
What is your favourite book you have read?
Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
Which Hogwarts House would you be sorted into?
While I would rather black and white and not yellow and black, I would be sorted into Hufflepuff!
If you could teach any subject that doesn't exist, what would it be?
I would love to teach The History of Popular Music 1955 to 2010.
What do you do during your free time?
Listen to music. I have a bit of a vinyl collection and there is nothing more relaxing than picking out a random record and listening to it - LOUDLY!
