01 JULY 2026 Backstage Buzz - Performing Arts Update

At the conclusion of this term, I will be leaving Kolbe Catholic College to take up a new position. It has been an incredible journey working at this school, and I cannot begin to thank the students, staff, and wider community enough for the generosity, support, and kindness I have experienced throughout my time here. I originally joined the College intending to stay for only a year, but the welcoming culture and the enthusiasm of our students quickly convinced me to remain much longer. It has been a privilege to work with young people who are eager to develop their talents, embrace new opportunities, and share their gifts with others.

There have been countless highlights over the years, far too many to list. I am particularly proud of the partnerships we established with Arcare and Levande Highlands community, creating meaningful connections through concerts, sing-alongs, and lunches. These experiences not only brought joy to our residents but also provided our students with valuable opportunities to serve and connect with others.

Watching the Choir grow from strength to strength has been especially rewarding. Each year, the ensemble has expanded not only in numbers but also in musicality and confidence of its performances. Likewise, Drama Club has continually impressed me with the creativity, imagination, and teamwork demonstrated by students across all year levels. Their willingness to collaborate and support one another has been inspiring.

I have loved seeing the Private Tuition Program grow to include more than 100 dedicated students. It has been a joy to see the Performing Arts Centre filled with music each day. Kolbe is fortunate to have such highly skilled tutors and Performing Arts staff who inspire students to pursue excellence. Their professionalism, creativity, and generosity have played a significant role in the success and growth of our programs.

To every student who has participated in a performance, rehearsal, workshop, competition, concert, or community event, thank you. Your dedication, enthusiasm, and courage to step outside your comfort zone have made every moment worthwhile.

As I move on to my next adventure, I take with me many fond memories. My years at Kolbe will undoubtedly remain among some of the most rewarding and fulfilling of my career.

I encourage all students to continue stepping outside their comfort zones, embracing new challenges, and sharing their talents through the Performing Arts.
