New Student - Year 7 MacBook Program

When your child commences at Kolbe Catholic College in Year 7, they will be loaned a new MacBook Device, setup with all appropriate school applications and software.

The MacBook is loaned until the end of Year 9 and ownership may be transferred to the student at this time (no earlier) under certain conditions outlined in the “Terms and Conditions” document.

A Loan fee for the device is incorporated into the ICT Levy that is charged to your fee account in Years 7, 8 and 9.

New Student - Year 8 and 9 Macbook Program

When your child commences at Kolbe Catholic College in Year 8 or 9, they will be loaned a compatible MacBook Device, setup with all appropriate school applications and software.

The MacBook is loaned until the end of Year 9 and ownership may be transferred to the student at this time (no earlier) under certain conditions outlined in the “Terms and Conditions” document.

A Loan fee for the device is incorporated into the ICT Levy that is charged to your fee account in both Year 8 and Year 9.

New Student - Year 10-12 BYOD Program

When your child commences at Kolbe Catholic College in Year 10-12, they will need to bring their own compatible Macbook Device with minimum specifications.

These are:-

  • Apple M1 Chip with 8‑Core CPU and 7‑Core GPU 256GB storage
  • Apple M1 chip with 8‑core CPU, 7‑core GPU and 16‑core Neural Engine
  • 8GB unified memory
  • 256GB of SSD storage¹
  • Retina display with True Tone
  • Magic Keyboard
  • Touch ID
  • Force Touch trackpad
  • Two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports

Note: Recommended purchasing AppleCare Plus for 3 year warranty and insurance

These devices can be sourced externally from any major technology supplier.

Current Student - Year 10-12

If the current loan device is transferred to the student at the end of Year 9, they may continue to use this device in their senior years.

The changes that are made are:-

  • There is no insurance or warranty cover for the device
  • There is limited assistance available from ICT Department and costs may be applicable for any external repairs required.

If the student wishes to update the loan device, they will need to follow the guidelines set out in “New Student – Year 10-12 BYOD Program.
