It has been a very busy term for staff and students at the St Catherine’s campus. The term highlights include the ‘Official Campus Opening’, School Camp and Premier League.

School Camp was quite an adventure with the students participating in a wide range of outdoor activities. Nerves were tested as they navigated heights and different skills.

Excitement was in the air when the campus officially opened on 27 May. The students beautifully performed the College Song for the invited guests before the official ceremony.

The students participated in SACCSS Inter-School Sports over 7 weeks. Games were played at a range of ‘Home and Away’ venues. Against other SACCSS schools in Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball and Netball. Rivalries stared to develop as we played against other Colleges in the Northern and Western Suburbs. The Boys’ Basketball Team were the best performed, reaching the semi-finals. The Soccer Boys finished third in their competition. This was really fun for everyone and students are already looking forward to SACCSS Sport in 2027.

The students who were not participating in Premier league attended an excursion to Airborne in Week 8. Airborne was a fun, exciting and rewarding experience where students had the opportunity to relax and participate in various new and exciting activities that included dodgeball, rock climbing, bouncing on the trampolines and tackling an array of different obstacles on the ninja course. Students were able to complete these activities in groups of 12 and did them in rotations. During the rotations, at one point we had the opportunity to go to the food court and buy ourselves food. We had an amazing selection of different foods to choose from such as Pizza, Chicken Nuggets, Chips, Dim Sums, Brownies, ice creams and drinks. Overall, it was an extradentary experience where everyone had the opportunity to do something that they loved.

The next SACCSS Competition will be inter-school chess, which will be played in the first week of Term 3. A campus chess competition was held in Term Two to pick the Campus Representative Team. The school chess competition was one of the most exciting events of the term. Students gathered in the library, eager to test their skills and strategies against one another. As the matches began, the room became silent except for the occasional sound of chess pieces moving across the boards. Each player concentrated intensely, carefully planning several moves ahead while trying to anticipate their opponent’s tactics. Some games ended quickly with clever checkmates, while others lasted for a long time as players battled for every advantage. Some of the matches were especially thrilling, both competitors displaying remarkable patience, intelligence, and determination. The Campus Chess Team will be made up of

  1. Vihaan Shah
  2. Armaan Bhardwaj
  3. Sachit Gautam
  4. Saam Ghanbari
  5. Nirantak Kawshal
  6. Anish Manu
  7. Yuvraaj Kaushal
  8. Ryan Kimangui

We wish them well in their competition.

All in all, it has been a breath-taking term filled with many memorable highlights. Students now have a chance to have a rest, reflect on the year so far and plan for the start of Term 3.
