This term’s Formal Assembly celebrated Student Voice in Action.
Mr Shaun Lancashire, Deputy Principal – Campus Director (St Clare Campus), conducted an on-stage interview with our College Captains and Vice Captains, asking the following questions:
Alicia: What is your understanding of the concept of child safety here at Kolbe?
Grace: What does student voice mean?
James: Why do you think we talk about students having both “rights” and “responsibilities”?
Chrysolite: Who would you go to if you had a safety concern, and who would you encourage younger students to approach if they had a concern?
Our student leaders then spoke about the key expectations that support learning, structure, and respect at Kolbe, including uniform, mobile phone pouches, agreed standards, and behaviour. They highlighted that these foundations contribute to a positive school culture and emphasised that consistency in the basics creates an environment where all students feel supported, focused, and proud of their school.
Ms Jess Pendlebury introduced the 2026 Student Senate, comprising students from Years 8 – 12. The Senate has already begun actively contributing student voice to drive positive change across our community. Their focus is on listening, leading, and working collaboratively to make Kolbe an even better place to learn, grow, and belong.
We warmly welcome the 2026 Student Senate:

Academic Captain and Vice Captain, Rea and Chelsea, also highlighted the importance of effective exam preparation to support students to perform at their best. Their key tips included creating a study plan, studying regularly in small, manageable chunks, and using active recall as a highly effective revision strategy.
Year 12 student Angus raised awareness of the FightMND Foundation, educating the community about Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a neurodegenerative condition in which nerves that carry messages from the brain to the body gradually deteriorate, making movement, speech, swallowing, and breathing increasingly difficult. This devastating illness is currently 100% fatal with no cure. Angus also highlighted the upcoming Big Freeze campaign, which has raised over $60 million for research.
Faith Captains Marco and Stavro celebrated the many opportunities for students to engage in their faith life at Kolbe. These include the Opening School Mass (the first shared celebration across both campuses), Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday liturgies, Easter celebrations, Monday devotions in the Chapel, excursions to Holy Hour at St Patrick’s Cathedral, House Masses, and upcoming Reflection Days.
Our choir, as always, led the Australian National Anthem and College Song with poise and pride, delivering a wonderful performance.
A sincere thank you to all staff and students who contributed behind the scenes or on stage to make each assembly a meaningful celebration of student voice.
