Term 2 has seen a flourish of activity as our community continues to entertain and inspire audiences through the Performing Arts.

Mother’s Day Breakfast Concert

At 7:00am on the 1 May, the stadium at Kolbe filled with more than 550 people who came together to share breakfast with their loved ones. The Performing Arts team prepared a concert featuring singers, dancers and pianists to entertain the crowd.

Last year, we began a tradition of inviting families to perform at this special event, and I was delighted to see this continue. We welcomed mother-daughter duo, Year 8 student Ivy and her mother Jessica, who performed Beautiful. We also welcomed our first full family performance, featuring Olivia (Year 8), along with her mum Katrina, dad Dan, brother Owen and sister Judy, performing I Won’t Give Up.

I cannot thank these families and all the student who performed enough for giving up their time to prepare for this event and for sharing their incredible talent with our community. Their performances were certainly highlights of the morning. The families also treated us to a rendition of Lean on Me, encouraging the large crowd to sing along. Moments like these truly highlight the power of community and coming together to celebrate.

Talent Show

Alongside our usual showcases and soirées, the Performing Arts Department decided to expand opportunities for students this year by introducing a Talent Show for experienced performers. The event was judged by professionals from the industry, and the standard of performances was exceptionally high. It certainly highlighted the incredible amount of talent within our Kolbe community.

I am so proud of every student who had the courage and confidence to enter this competition. It is never easy to put yourself forward to be judged, and each performer should be commended for their effort and dedication.

Congratulations to all involved, and especially to our place-getters:

  • 1st Place: Isabella Belfield (Year 11) – Vocals
  • 2nd Place: Eden Pettenon (Year 7) – Dance
  • 3rd Place: Bailey Repic (Year 9) – Drums

This event will now become an annual tradition and was certainly a memorable occasion.

Soiree

This year's Soirée broke records, with the chapel reaching capacity as audience members eagerly gathered to witness the incredible talent on display at Kolbe Catholic College. The one-hour event featured a diverse range of performances, from beginner students to more experienced performers showcasing their skills.

Every student involved should be immensely proud of their performance. There was a real sense of excitement in the air as we celebrated the dedication and hard work of our private tuition students, choir members, and bands.

It was wonderful to host a cross-campus event, and we were delighted to welcome Rhythm Saini from the St Catherine’s Campus to perform alongside students from St Clare’s. We look forward to many more opportunities for students from both campuses to perform together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special evening and also to the many tutors and staff involved to help make it such a memorable success.

Future Events

As this newsletter goes to print, we wish all students involved in the private tuition program, choir and bands all the very best as they showcase what they have been learning to family and friends at the Soiree.
