As Kolbe Catholic College continues its 11 Months,11 Standards campaign to raise awareness within the school community around the safety of children and young people, our focus for this newsletter is around Child Safe Standard 5.

Child Safe Standard 5: Equity is upheld and diverse needs respected in policy and practice.

This Standard focuses on ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, identity, ability, or life experience feels safe, included, and supported in our school and in their everyday lives outside of school.

Kolbe Catholic College aims to meet the requirements of this Standard, by having:

  • Staff and volunteers, who are trained to understand children and young people’s diverse circumstances, and who provide support to those who are vulnerable.
  • Information, supports and complaints processes for students in ways that are culturally safe, accessible and easy to understand.
  • Child-friendly and plain language versions of how students can raise a complaint or a concern.
  • Dedicated Learning Diversity and Student Wellbeing teams to support students.
  • Celebrations of diversity through various classroom activities, and cultural days and weeks.
