At Kolbe Catholic College, we are proud to nurture a love of languages and creativity through a variety of enriching experiences. One of the highlights of our Italian program this year was the Year 7 In-House Italian Poetry Competition held on Monday 20 October, which gave students the opportunity to showcase their pronunciation, expression, and memorisation skills while celebrating the beauty of the Italian language.

Students from across the Year 7 cohort enthusiastically participated, memorising and performing Italian poems with confidence and flair. The competition encouraged students to engage deeply with the rhythm, sound, and meaning of the language — and to do so with wonderful spirit and enthusiasm. After many outstanding performances, we are delighted to announce our 2025 Poetry Competition Winners:

🥇 First Prize: Nashwan I (7J) – for his expressive recital of “Il gatto”
🥈 Second Prize: Evet C (7F) – for her beautifully delivered “La Prima Colazione”
🥉 Third Prize (shared): Thomas D (7B) – for “La Mia Poesia”
and Miryana Q (7C) – for “Il gatto”

Congratulations to all our winners for their wonderful pronunciation, clear diction, and precise memorisation. Each student demonstrated great dedication and a genuine passion for learning Italian.

A special mention goes to our finalists, who worked diligently and performed with enthusiasm and confidence throughout the competition:

The Poetry Competition was a joyful reminder that language learning is not just about grammar and vocabulary, it’s about expression, creativity, and connection. Bravissimi a tutti gli studenti!

We look forward to continuing this wonderful Kolbe tradition next year and seeing even more students share their voices and talents through Italian poetry.
