Last week marked a significant milestone for our Year 12 students as they concluded their 13-year educational journey, including six memorable years at Kolbe Catholic College. It was a week filled with celebration, reflection, and heartfelt farewells.
On Thursday, the College community came together for a formal assembly to honour the graduating class. In a symbolic “changing of the guard,” our 2025 College Captains and Leaders officially passed the torch to the incoming 2026 Student Leadership Team, marking the beginning of a new chapter in student leadership. The Student Leaders where also acknowledged for their service and recognised with awards. A particularly special moment during the assembly was the presentation of a magnificent San Damiano Cross by the College Captains to Principal, Mr Scully, a gift to be proudly displayed in the new STEAM building. This gesture symbolised the enduring values of faith and learning that underpin the Kolbe experience.
During the assembly, we proudly recognised outstanding achievements, including:
A highlight of the assembly was the touching Then and Now photo montage, showcasing each student’s transformation from Year 7 to Year 12. This was followed by a nostalgic video journey through the cohort’s six years at Kolbe, evoking laughter, tears, and cherished memories.
The assembly concluded with a powerful rendition of the Kolbe song, Faith, Courage and Compassion. The voices of our Year 12 students rang out with pride and unity, rising above the microphoned choir.
On Friday morning, the celebrations continued with the much-anticipated Costume Parade in the stadium. True to their reputation, the Class of 2025 embraced the theme with enthusiasm and creativity. From the full cast of Shrek, to superheroes and villains, minions, dinosaurs, giant food and drink costumes, and even The Simpsons, their flair for fancy dress was on full display. Following the parade, students gathered for their final Year 12 Breakfast. Amid laughter and conversation, they exchanged gifts, signed shirts, took final photos, and shared words of gratitude with the teachers who had guided and supported them throughout their journey.
On Friday evening, the stadium was transformed to welcome over 1,000 guests for the Graduation Mass and Ceremony. Families, staff, and students came together to celebrate academic achievements and spiritual growth. The night concluded with a light supper, offering a chance for families and staff to mingle and commemorate this milestone together. As the week drew to a close, students began filtering back through the College for SWOTVac, diving into final preparations for their VCAA exams. With the English Written Examination kicking off the formal exam period on 28 October, we extend our best wishes to all students, whether they are heading into exams, beginning apprenticeships, entering the workforce, or exploring new opportunities.
To the Class of 2025.
Your journey at Kolbe may be ending, but your story is just beginning. Our prayers, blessings, and heartfelt congratulations go with you. May you continue to live with faith, courage, and compassion in all that you do.
