Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.
Welcome to November,
In the Catholic Church, November is the month dedicated to remembering and praying for the dead. On 1 November, we observe All Saints Day, and on the 2 November, we offer our prayers as part of All Souls' Day. The prayer I offer for you and your families is often used to remember the passing of a loved one, something you may choose to do this November.
On a celebratory note, we congratulate the class of 2025 on their graduation, many of whom will be undertaking their final examinations. As part of their final celebrations, our Year 12s and their parents gathered for their Graduation Mass and ceremony. Thanks to Father Dishan Candappa, who led this mass for our community. It was a truly special occasion. Congratulations to the students, not only for how they concluded the event, but especially for the heartfelt way they sang our College song, ‘Faith, Courage and Compassion’.
We look forward to celebrating the concluding Masses with all our students. Year 10 and Year 11 students will gather for their final Masses of 2025 on Wednesday 26 November and Thursday 27 November, respectively. Students in Years 7 to 9 will conclude their final day with a Mass on Wednesday 3 December. These are special occasions that offer an opportunity to come together in faith and community.
On the 11 November, our College will pause to observe Remembrance Day, an important occasion that honours the sacrifices made by many so that we may enjoy the lives and freedoms we have today. This ceremony will also mark the first time our newly appointed Faith Captains will lead a College event.
Finally, the academic year will conclude with two events; the Year 8 Reflection Day and the Australian Catholic Youth Festival. Reflection Days are always enjoyable days for the students to enjoy each other’s company, whilst also engaging in meaningful and faith-filled activities.
Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF) returns to Melbourne in December, where the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre will welcome over 5,000 Catholics and faithful to engage in games, social justice activities, prayer and a mass celebrated by Archbishop Peter A Comensoli on the evening of Tuesday 2 December. We look forward to our Kolbe contingent enjoying the festival and deepening their faith.
Peace and Blessings.
