The Performing Arts has been in full swing since Term 3 commenced, with a range of activities available for students.

Beetlejuice the Musical
The Year 10 Drama class attended a performance of Beetlejuice the Musical. For many, it was their first experience of a live theatre production. The students were captivated by this slick show, which showcased an impressive range of dramatic elements. As James Dulson reflected after the performance:

“The expressive skills used by the characters were impressive, from the dramatic, over-the-top movement to the strong singing and voice acting.”

Viewing professional productions is an essential part of the learning experience, allowing students to connect their own artistic practice with professional storytelling in the wider world. It was a memorable excursion for all involved.

Kolbe’s Got Talent
This year saw a record number of students register to perform. The talent within the school continues to grow, with participants presenting acts in singing, dancing, acting, and instrumental music. The students don’t get to have all the fun as the staff also take part in the Masked Staff Member challenge, where students try to guess the hidden performer.

It is always inspiring to see the audience’s support and encouragement for each act. We are especially proud of those who have the confidence to take the stage. Kolbe’s Got Talent remains a highlight of the school calendar for many.

Battle of the Bands
Congratulations to the Kolbe Catholic College Senior and Junior bands who performed superbly at the Battle of the Bands competition on Friday, 22 August. Held at Penola Catholic College, our bands showcased excellence in performance, execution, and stage presence. A special commendation goes to Year 8 student Lachlan Ford, who received the Excellence Award for his outstanding work as lead vocalist. This is an exceptional achievement. Well done to all involved! The Kolbe community is incredibly proud of our bands, as well as the families and students who came along to cheer them on. A special thank you also to Carlos Gomez and tutor Gus Cox for their dedicated preparation and guidance of the bands.
