On Thursday 18 September, the Year 9 and 10 Italian students ventured into the city for an enriching visit to the Immigration Museum. Throughout the day, they explored various aspects of this educational space, immersing themselves in poignant stories of migration through a variety of perspectives.
A highlight of the visit was a guest speaker who shared his personal experiences with migration, reflecting on the joys of living in the vibrant nation of Australia. This inspiring session allowed students the opportunity to contribute to a community Wall of Joy, where they expressed what brings them happiness.
Following the museum, a delightful morning tea was enjoyed at the iconic Italian café, Brunetti's, located in Flinders Lane. Taste buds were treated to a selection of traditional Italian desserts, including cannoli, tiramisu, and Nutella biscuits.
Lunch was devoured at the famous Mercato Centrale on Collins Street. While our friends currently on the 2025 Italy trip had visited the one in Florence, the Year 9 and 10 students embraced the opportunity to explore the one right at our doorstep. Students indulged in a variety of delectable Italian dishes, such as pasta, potato gnocchi, pizza, arancini, and the ever-popular fries.
What a fantastic way to celebrate culture and the rich flavours that immigration has brought to Australia!
