Our Unit 2 Environmental Science class had an amazing day at Queenscliff as part of the Conserve and Sea program last week. Students started with an ecosystems cruise through the beautiful bay and out to Popes Eye, spotting Australian fur seals and Australasian gannet colonies along the way.
Students later participated in a plastics recycling workshop where they crafted pens from recycled milk bottle lids. A wonderful hands-on experience reinforcing the importance of reducing pollution and promoting regenerative tourism and ecotourism practices, and also links with the Southern Ocean Environmental Link (soel.org.au) in a mission to protect our natural habitats.
To wrap up the day, they enjoyed delicious fish and chips while watching dolphins play off the pier!
