Preparations Underway for Instrumental and Ensemble Showcase - Monday 12 September

Both tutors and students of piano, guitar, bass guitar and voice are all preparing, practicing and working hard towards our College’s Instrumental and Ensemble Showcase. This will be showcased live in the College Chapel on Monday 12th September starting at 6.30pm. Tickets will be available soon via trybooking.com. This will be our first showcase to be performed live, so it will be special. It is a fabulous opportunity to gather the school community together and celebrate the achievements and bravery of each student’s performances.

Anyone interested in joining the Instrumental and Ensemble Program can direct their questions to Head of Music, Alicia Verso, or visit the College website and click on the Instrumental and Ensemble Program tab here: https://www.kolbecc.catholic.e...

Year 7s Enjoying Musical Futures Percussion Unit

Year 7s are enjoying the Just Play Musical Futures percussion unit. They are learning the foundations of a rock back beat using percussion instruments played along to Billy Jean by Michael Jackson. It also incorporates some background on other artists from different eras that use this fundamental beat. Students learn the parts separately, then with the class as an ensemble and join a small group of their choice to further develop their parts to become as one as a group performance to the class. They are building confidence, teamwork, listening and communication skills all the while developing those neurological pathways to the brain. Can you believe this iconic song, Billy Jean, is 40 years old this year and still a hit with the kids of this era!
