College Sporting Academy

This program aims to assist talented young basketballers, who are enrolled at Kolbe Catholic College, to achieve at the highest levels of performance and to help them with their personal education, vocational development and sporting aspirations through:

  • strong partnerships with community organisations, sporting clubs and universities
  • balancing sporting ambitions and academic studies
  • developing advanced skills, knowledge and an understanding of pathways that lead to VCE, VET and VCAL programs


Academy Learning Structure (Years 7-12):

Inspired by the College Learning and Teaching Charter and the 5 Ls of Learning, the Kolbe Catholic College Sports Academy provides a developmental and applied structure for learning that is informed by the Victorian Curriculum, Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), Vocational Education and Training (VET), and the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) Standards of Operation. Commencing in Year 7, the program focuses on advanced game play, skill development and sports leadership with students, developing knowledge, skill and understanding associated with:

  • nutrition
  • game tactics
  • strength and conditioning
  • refereeing and umpiring
  • sports psychology
  • media presentation
  • sports injuries
  • goal setting and mentoring
  • athlete development and success
  • mindset and wellbeing
  • post athlete pathways.


Application Process
