In March, our Years 8 and 9 Ignite students had the exciting opportunity to attend the STEM Driver Learner Program at the Australian Grand Prix. Throughout the day, students were fully immersed in the fast-paced work of Formula 1, gaining rare behind-the-scenes access to the sport and getting up close to both the cars and the drivers. The experience provided valuable insight into the cutting-edge technology and teamwork that underpins elite motorsport.
The program was designed to highlight the wide range of STEM-based career pathways available within the motorsport industry, from engineering and data analysis to design, innovation and problem-solving. Students took part in hands-on activities and engaging discussions that demonstrated how science, technology, engineering and mathematics are applied in real-world, high-performance environments. The day was an inspiring experience that encouraged students to think creatively about their future studies and careers, while seeing STEM subjects come to life in the real world.
