All Year 12 students were given the opportunity to meet with Mr Mackertich or Ms Williams to discuss their plans and pathways beyond Kolbe Catholic College. It was pleasing to see that many students came well prepared, bringing thoughtful ideas and clear goals for their future.
Mr Mackertich and Ms Williams also provided valuable guidance, including alternative pathway options and course suggestions at other institutions, particularly for those students seeking additional support in planning their next steps.
Applications are now open for ACU's Uni Step Up Program. Students can study Business, Exercise Sports Science, Nursing, Midwifery or Paramedicine.
The ACU Step Up program offers Year 11 students a valuable opportunity to experience university life while still at school. Through this program, students can develop academic skills, build confidence, and gain insight into the expectations of tertiary study. Participation also allows students to explore potential career pathways, strengthen their study habits, and, in some cases, contribute to their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), supporting a smoother transition from school to university.
The Program starts in the July school holidays, with classes also running throughout January. Students MUST be available for all sessions.

Students in our Year 10 Aspire and Endeavour programs successfully undertook work experience during Week 9 of Term 1, with placements across a range of industries including schools, pharmacies, and trade-based settings. Feedback from employers was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the professionalism and enthusiasm of our students, while also noting the mutual benefits of the experience.Work experience provides Year 10 students with a valuable opportunity to explore potential career pathways and gain insight into the world of work. It supports the development of confidence, workplace skills, and more informed decision-making about future study and employment options.Students in Core Year 10 are also able to undertake work experience at any time throughout the year, provided it does not conflict with mid-year or end-of-year examinations. Please see Ms Williams for the necessary forms and approval.
