Earlier in Term 3, our Student Senate had the exciting opportunity to participate in a Live FM podcast training day. Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, this year’s session, involving leaders from both our St Clare of Assisi Campus and St Catherine of Bologna Campus, was just as dynamic and empowering.

The day began with lively icebreakers and introductions, helping students reconnect and welcome new senators to the team. With the guidance of experienced facilitator from Live FM, Ralph Barba, the group quickly settled in and turned their attention to the art of podcasting.

Throughout the day, our senators rotated through a series of hands-on workshops. These sessions provided practical training in interviewing techniques, effective communication, and the essentials of running a live radio show. Students learned how to craft engaging questions, manage interview flow, and present themselves confidently behind the microphone.

Then came the opportunity for each senator to step into the role of host and interviewer. Working in small teams, they produced short podcast segments, gaining first-hand experience in planning, recording, and presenting live content. The supportive environment encouraged everyone to step out of their comfort zones, try new skills, and develop their unique voices.

We are incredibly proud of our Student Senate for their enthusiasm, creativity, and willingness to learn. The confidence and media skills they have developed through this experience will serve them well, not only in future podcast projects but also as leaders in our school community.
