Child Safe Standard 9
As Kolbe Catholic College continues its “11 Months 11 Standards” campaign to raise awareness within the school community around the safety of children and young people, our focus for this newsletter is around Child Safe Standard 9.
Child Safe Standard 9: Physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing while minimising the opportunity for children and young people to be harmed.
This Standard focuses on ensuring that all forms of Kolbe Catholic College’s learning environments are safe to be used by all students and pose no risk of harm to them.
Kolbe Catholic College aims to meet the requirements of this Standard, by having:
- Staff and volunteers receive appropriate annual child safety training, including reporting obligations.
- A risk assessment is completed for every school activity that is conducted either physically or online, including for camps and international trips.
- MACS conduct a privacy impact assessment for all school apps and other platforms prior to being used and ongoing.
- Certain staff receive regular training to be the dedicated “eSafety Champions” for the school.
- Regular education sessions are provided to promote and educate students on online safety, including the promotion of cyber-significant days and weeks.
