In the blink of an eye we find ourselves at the conclusion of Term 1.

I have had the privilege to meet with a number of families throughout this term and wish to begin by thanking you for your continued partnership and support of your young person as they complete the final years of their secondary school learning journey.

Some friendly reminders, students who are absent from an assessment are encouraged to make contact with their teachers. It is a College expectation that your subject teacher will book you into, and that you attend, the next available Afterschool Assessment Catch Up (Tuesday or Friday 3.15pm-5.00pm).

All absences will require a medical certificate along with the completion of a “Application for Reschedule Form” (blue form) in order for you to receive a score (Year 12) or grade (Year 11).

It is important to note that failure to complete a form and submit a medical certificate to explain your absence may put you at risk of receiving a non-satisfactory (N) grade for that assessment task or outcome. An non-satisfactory (N) grade may then impact your ineligibility to receive your Victoria Certificate of Education (VCE) qualification at the conclusion of year 12.

We encourage our senior students to use this holiday break to rest, spend time with family and friends but to also continue to consolidate their learning.

Students can use a variety of the below methods or strategies to achieve this (please note this is not an exclusive list):

  • review your past assessments, what areas have your teacher’s encouraged you to revisit in preparation for your end of year exam (Year 12s) or Semester 1 (Unit 1) exams (Year 11s)?
  • revisit booklisted textbook resources including video resources and examples (eg. Edrolo or Cambridge)
  • for those in folio based subjects, continue to work through and build on your folio, you are strongly encouraged to utilise those milestone tasks and dates set by your teacher

How can you get ready for Term 2 you ask?

  • try pre-reading the next chapter in your textbook and making notes, this will enable you to spend you first few lessons clarifying and deepening your understanding

For those in our Victorian Pathway Certificate (VPC) or VCE: Vocational Major the holiday break offers an unique opportunity to work with family or friends to complete some additional work placement and experience “a day in the life” of your particular chosen career interest.

I eagerly await Term 2 and remind parents/guardians/students my door is always open.
