As we move into the final term of the year, I would like to take this opportunity to recognise and celebrate the many successes our Performing Arts students have achieved throughout Term 3. It has been an incredibly busy and rewarding term, with students embracing every opportunity to perform, develop their skills and represent Kolbe Catholic College with pride.
Battle of the Bands
Our annual Battle of the Bands was once again a fantastic showcase of the talent, dedication and musicianship of our students. This year, Kolbe Catholic College proudly entered two bands in the competition, hosted by Penola Catholic College, where they competed alongside students from six other local secondary schools.
With the theme of Australian Music, our students delivered outstanding performances of Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House and White Noise by The Living End. Their professionalism, energy and musical skill captivated the audience and reflected the many hours of preparation and rehearsal leading up to the event.
A special congratulations goes to Bailey Repic, who received an Excellence Award in recognition of his outstanding drumming skills.
R U OK? Day Lunchtime Concert
Our R U OK? Day Lunchtime Concert provided a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together through music. With beautiful weather setting the scene, students and staff performers shared their talents in an uplifting outdoor concert that promoted connection, wellbeing and community spirit.
Thank you to all performers who contributed to the event and helped create such a positive and supportive atmosphere for everyone involved.
Theatresports Competition
Our Drama students had the exciting opportunity to participate in the Theatresports Competition with Impro Melbourne. Throughout the experience, students demonstrated tremendous creativity, confidence and teamwork while developing valuable improvisation and performance skills.
A sincere thank you to our Performing Arts staff members Eliza Fleet, Amy Koprek and Matt Sabato for their dedication in preparing and accompanying our students throughout the competition. The students represented the College exceptionally well, and the skills and experiences gained will undoubtedly continue to benefit them in future performances and learning opportunities.
Looking Ahead to Term 4
We have an exciting Term 4 ahead, beginning with our annual Performing Arts Showcase. This highly anticipated event will feature many of our talented students performing for family and friends across a variety of instruments, ensembles and performance disciplines. The Showcase is always a wonderful celebration of student achievement, and we look forward to sharing the incredible talents of our Performing Arts community.
We are also thrilled to announce the return of College Production. After much anticipation, preparations are underway for our 2027 Production, with auditions set to take place during Term 4. We are excited to provide students with another opportunity to be involved in a large-scale theatrical production and encourage all interested students to keep an eye out for further information in the coming weeks.
