Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Program

This year we have launched our new Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Program in Daily Pastoral Care Sessions. Using the Respectful Relationships Curriculum, SEL sessions in Years 7-10 have been focused on Emotional  Literacy, developing the vocabulary students can use to recognise and communicate the emotions they experience. In Year 11 and 12, students have been exploring the challenges and opportunities they will face in 2022 and the way they can draw on their personal strengths to manage the experiences that lie ahead.

The focus of the SEL for this term will be on the first of the 5 key Social-Emotional Capabilities – Self Awareness. Students will be focusing on identifying their emotions and feelings, seeing the connection between emotions and behaviour, developing self-confidence, resilience and optimism, and the importance of a growth mindset.

Our fantastic team of Year Level Leaders and Pastoral Care Teachers have developed an interactive program of 15-minute sessions per day, with a mixture of discussions, role plays, interactive activities, quizzes and much, much more.

Student Leaders – running Extended PC

Our Student House Captains will be leading a program of House Activities through Extended Pastoral Care Sessions. The House Captains met recently to develop these activities and had their first opportunity to introduce themselves to the students in their Houses during our House Assemblies on February 23. It has been fantastic to see the enthusiasm and energy of our student leaders as they take on this important role in 2022.

House Feast Days

We are delighted to reintroduce House Feast Days to our calendar in 2022, with each of the 6 Houses to come together during the year participate in a House Mass and hospitality, building on the opportunities for students to feel a sense of connection with their House. These celebrations are scheduled throughout the year as close as possible to the feast days of each House’s patron.

The first of our Feast Days will be Romero House on March 9, with the other Houses scheduled on the following dates:
