The last week of term was marked by the energetic celebration of Health and Physical Education (HPE) Week, bringing together students and staff at both campuses for a series of fun, healthy, and memorable activities.
The week began with an invitation for both staff and students to join a morning walk before classes started, a great way to get minds and bodies moving. Nutritious breakfast options were available for students at both campuses. From fresh fruit to wholesome cereals and yogurt, everyone started their days on the right foot, reinforcing the importance of a balanced diet in supporting both learning and physical activity.
Midweek, the College community embraced Sports Colours Day. Staff and students donned a splash of colour to represent their favourite sporting teams. However, the highlight of HPE Week, and the event that generates the most excitement each year, was the annual Year 12 students versus staff basketball match. This tradition is one that Year 12 students eagerly anticipate for five years, finally getting their chance to challenge their teachers on the court.
This year’s game lived up to its reputation for drama and entertainment. The staff team appeared to have the upper hand early on, but clever tactics, teamwork, and inspired coaching saw the students mount an impressive comeback. In a nail-biting finish, the Year 12s clinched victory by a single point in the final moments, sparking jubilant celebrations and cementing the match as the most coveted event of the week.
Packed with fun and plenty of competition, HPE Week was a winner. Already, students are looking forward to their opportunity to slay the teachers on the court—even those in Year 7.
