What a joyful Term 3 we have had! The last few weeks have passed quickly, with so many events to celebrate. We have had a series of special weeks throughout the term and our teachers and staff have arranged a plethora of opportunities for students to engage in lunch activities, incursions and events.
These are just a small selection of the wonderful activities that filled our special weeks and I’d like to thank our students for their participation and support throughout the term. Our staff and teachers also contributed an enormous effort to organise, publicise and run these events and I think them for their continued creativity, enthusiasm and energy in showcasing these wonderful occasions.
I was lucky enough to join our St Catherine students on their excursion to the Melbourne Museum recently which St Clare’s Year 7s also attended later in the week. A collaboration between Humanities, Italian and Art, students were treated to an immersion into Ancient Rome, able to view marbles, statues, paintings, jewellery and artefacts on show that painted a picture of life hundreds of years ago. Students were also fascinated by the Little Lon exhibition of life in Melbourne at its establishment, seeing Phar Lap, visiting a rainforest and finding the little frogs, and being towered over by dinosaurs!
Another highlight of the term was our Fathers’ Day Breakfast. Through the support of the Parents and Friends and our dedicated staff, Dads, Grandparents and male role models joined students from both campuses for a delicious breakfast. Competition was very close as tables battled it out in the Trivia Competition for a chance to claim victory. The drawing of the raffle at the end of the breakfast saw people delighted with terrific prizes from local businesses. It was a lovely morning!
Following the release of reports at the start of term, in late August, parents and students had the opportunity to meet with teachers during our Parent teacher Interviews. I hope that students took this time as an opportunity to set goals for the remainder of the academic year to ensure a strong finish as we move into Term 4.
Over the break, we keep our Year 12 students in our prayers as they conclude their secondary schooling. VCE students will be engaged in practice exams through the holidays in preparation for their final exams, starting in Week 4.
Again, I thank all students, staff and parents and carers for their support throughout Term Three and wish you a restful and happy break.
