27 AUG 2026 From the Acting Principal

As we make our way towards the middle of Term 3, we can be inspired that we are more than half-way through winter; the days are slowly getting a little longer and a little brighter. Already, we have packed an enormous amount into the term, as you will see throughout this newsletter.

At the beginning of the term, I spoke to the students about the vision of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) which is ‘Forming lives to enrich the world.’ I talked about them being loved, precious, worthy and special. The students in our care deserve to be given dignity, hope and the capacity to grow here at Kolbe. Our job is to help our students to grow and become the person they want to be – academically, socially and emotionally, spiritually and physically. Our hope is to educate students to live their lives to the full!

Each day, we see students already doing this and making our community a better place by their presence, actions and decisions. I am particularly encouraged to see the effort students have recently put into their subject selections for next year, taking the responsibility of choosing subjects very seriously, starting to think about future goals and employment, as well as skills and interests.

Kolbe presents so many opportunities for students to seek out their interests, try new things, improve their skills and shine to share their gifts and talents. I encourage all students to get involved in what is happening at school.

I am also excited to share the news that work has begun on Stage 2 of the St Catherine Campus in Mickleham. This will comprise a 16-classroom Learning Neighbourhood and a Performing Arts Building. We are excited to be seeing the architects’ vision coming to life in preparation for the Stage 2 opening in 2028.
