Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, That my thoughts may all be holy.

Act in me, O Holy Spirit, That my work, too, may be holy.

Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, That I love but what is holy.

Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, To defend all that is holy. - St Augustine

As we come to the close of Term 2, we pause to reflect on a semester marked by growth, resilience, and deep moments of faith. The joy and hope of the Easter season continued to echo throughout our school community, as only recently we celebrated the Solemnity of Pentecost, as well as the Solemnities of the Most Holy Trinity and Corpus Christi. The prayer offered to families and the Kolbe Catholic College community, brings these Solemnities together, in the words of St Augustine.

Recently, our Year 10 students had their Reflection Day, guided by Fr Rob Galea and members of his band. The day was an incredible opportunity for the students to hear Fr Rob’s testimony, appreciate his musical talents and explore their faith journey. It was obvious Fr Rob’s message resonated with so many, as such, I congratulate the students on the way they engaged with the day.

To conclude the term, Kolbe Catholic College celebrated Cultural Week. Whilst this was a meaningful event across the college, the Faith sphere of the college added their contribution by offering prayers in different languages. As in previous years, these were offered over the PA but we also filmed the Jubilee Prayer in various languages, shared with the students on Cultural Day and also via our social media. If you haven’t seen the video, it is certainly worth your while as it showcases the diversity of our Kolbe community. You can view the video here.

We also continue to count down to ACYF (Australian Catholic Youth Festival), launching our support of this year’s festival at our College assembly. This year, Melbourne is hosting the event and we look forward to sending a group at the end of the year. The Melbourne Archdiocese is expecting over 10,000 young people gathering and praying together, a fantastic opportunity for young Catholics, especially as it is in our own backyard!

Finally, next term we look forward to our Kolbe Feast Day, always one of the biggest days on the College calendar. This year promises to be a fantastic event, beginning with mass and continuing some traditional events whilst also including some new and fun activities.

Peace and blessings.
