Every Tuesday morning and lunchtime, the Wellbeing Team’s coffee cart brings a buzz to campus with hot drinks and friendly faces. Run by the Wellbeing Team and students, this initiative is about more than just serving coffee, it’s designed to give students authentic workplace learning experiences and develop key employability skills.

By operating the coffee cart, students gain hands-on experience in customer service, communication, teamwork, time management, problem-solving, workplace professionalism, financial literacy, and food handling. These practical skills are exactly what employers value, and they set students up for future job opportunities.

The coffee cart is also a fantastic way for students to build social and life skills. Working behind the counter helps them grow in confidence, practice conversation and interpersonal skills, and develop resilience, responsibility, leadership, and independence. It also creates a unique space for staff and students to connect outside the classroom, helping to build trust and strong relationships throughout the school community.

The coffee cart proves that a simple cup of coffee can brew up a whole world of learning and connection.
