The Languages Department at Kolbe Catholic College proudly celebrated a significant milestone in the College's history as students from the Year 7I and 8I Ignite Italian classes at St Clare of Assisi Campus, Greenvale joined students from the Year 7I Ignite Italian class at St Catherine of Bologna Campus, Mickleham, for a memorable Italian excursion to Carlton.

For the first time, students from both campuses came together as one learning community, reflecting the spirit of unity and collaboration that continues to grow across Kolbe Catholic College. This special occasion marked an exciting chapter for our Languages Department and provided students with an authentic cultural experience beyond the classroom.

The day began with an engaging Italian Treasure Hunt through the vibrant streets of Carlton. Working together in teams, students explored the rich Italian heritage of the precinct while completing a series of exciting challenges. Their mission was to solve clues, discover hidden landmarks and compete for the coveted Treasure Hunt prize. Throughout the day, students demonstrated outstanding enthusiasm, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

A highlight of the excursion was strolling along the iconic Lygon Street, where students immersed themselves in the sights, sounds and flavours of Italian culture. They visited renowned cafés including Brunetti Classico and Ti Amo, explored a variety of traditional gelaterie, and received a warm welcome from local Italian businesses and restaurants. Students delighted in sampling authentic Italian gelato and delicious pastries while experiencing the vibrant atmosphere that makes Carlton the heart of Melbourne's Italian community.

The adventure concluded with a delicious lunch at Universal Restaurant, where students enjoyed a traditional Italian meal featuring pasta, pizza and, of course, gelato. Sharing a meal together was a wonderful way to celebrate Italian hospitality and cuisine while strengthening friendships across both campuses.
